Taipei / Essen, April 23, 2026 — Buima Energy is proud to announce that the BUIMA Energy Storage Tile has been named a Red Dot Winner 2026 in the Product Design category, receiving the jury's distinction for Innovative Design.
The Red Dot Award is one of the world's most respected design competitions, with entries judged by an international panel on criteria spanning innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics, and durability. Being recognized with the Innovative Design distinction places the BUIMA Energy Storage Tile among a select group of products that push the boundaries of what their category can look like and do.
Design that disappears into the architecture
The BUIMA Energy Storage Tile was conceived around a simple idea: energy storage shouldn't look like industrial equipment bolted to the side of a building. It should live inside the space — on the wall, behind the scenes of daily life — without demanding attention.
Each tile is a flat, modular 4 kWh unit designed to mount directly on a wall, singly or in arrays. The clean monolithic surface, recessed side channels for thermal and electrical management, and total absence of visible vents, screws, or branding elements on the front face turn what is normally an engineering object into something closer to architectural millwork.
Engineered for the grids of tomorrow
Behind the minimalist exterior sits a fully functional battery system engineered for real-world deployment: residential solar self-consumption, backup power, and — as demonstrated earlier this month at the Duiven EV charging site — grid buffering for high-power applications. Modules scale linearly: 1 tile = 4 kWh, 10 tiles = 40 kWh, and the array can grow as needs grow.
A milestone, not a finish line
This award validates a conviction we've held from day one: that the energy transition will be won not only by better chemistry and better software, but by better design — by products people actually want to live with. — Harvey Chuang, President of the Buima Group
The Red Dot recognition comes at a moment when Buima's storage platform is being deployed across an expanding set of real-world partnerships, from residential rooftops in Asia to EV charging infrastructure in Europe. The award is a pause to celebrate — and then straight back to work on the next generation of tiles, the next site, and the next step toward an energy future that is cleaner, smarter, and more beautiful.
